“Saint Archangels Mihail and Gavril” Church – from Micalaca Nouã, Arad
The Romanian Orthodox Church from Micalaca Nouã, Arad, is located near the Arad-Deva highway. It has been build between 1930-1934, in the byzantine traditional style, which is typical to romanian religious architecture between XVI and XVII century, based on the scheme of local architect Silvestru Rafiroiu. It's slender silhouette, splendid well-balanced, with a minimum ornaments (decoration panels, semicircled arcs), but with a sublime aesthetic effect, constitute a remarcable achievement, of religious architecture from our town.
Inside, the church is decorated with a wall painting, executed by Cornel Cenan, between 1943-1944, in a neo-byzantine style. A moreover jewel it is a sumptuous iconoclast, painted by Eremia Profeta, between 1969-1970.
